I am a bellydancer, performing and teaching under the name Sitri Sophia. I have a great pleasure of being a member of Sehraya Raqs, a performing troupe based in the Twin Cities.
I have stepped away from teaching a solo performance for the time being to focus on deepening my craft and expanding my knowledge. I was actively soloing from 2018-2025, and actively teaching from 2019-2025.

Origin Story:
I started actively studying bellydance in 2016, with a focus on fusion. I quickly became enamoured with the dance, and endeavored to learn more, and to explore the many styles of dance that have been lumped together under the “bellydance” umbrella.

I started doing solo performances in 2018, which quickly escalated to regularly performing at various shows around the Twin Cities, online, and eventually, the Midwest. Over the course of the past few years, I’ve been part of a few variety-show style troupes, as well as Muse bellydance, the Stygian Collective of metal dancers, and Sehraya Raqs.

I, at the behest of the studio I studied at at the time, started teaching in 2019. I was fortunate to be able to continue teaching virtually through the pandemic, and also picked up instructing Zumba classes during that time.
I taught consistently from 2019 until late 2025 in-person studios, and online. It was an absolute joy to teach, and I am grateful to have been able to create a fun, gender-inclusive, neurodivergent-friendly, and body-positive space to introduce student to the dance. I am currently on hiatus from teaching, as I am taking time to deepen my own knowledge.

If you’d like to follow along with my adventures, I typically post about upcoming shows on my Instagram account.
